Day 3: Your Favorite Heroine

Jane Porter is definitely my favorite heroine who is not a Disney Princess. All right, she is not exactly a heroine. She's a deuteragonist of Tarzan, his love interest. But she is the closest figure that instantly popped into my mind when I think of a non-princess-heroine.

She's a highly educated British, so she's naturally (or probably because people expected her to) graceful and proper, too proper at a first glance. But she is smart, curious and eager for new adventures. She is everything a young lady should look up to: educated, because that is important ladies, adventurous, respects tradition and has very good manners but smart enough to remember that this is her life and she is free to decide what she wants to do with it. She is patient, into arts and books, and doesn't start as the bravest person in Disney Universe, but she is willing to conquer her fears.

Also, she is probably the great great grandmother of Princess Belle.

Also, she is beautiful!

Her decision not to reduce Tarzan into someone else (a normal human being living outside of the jungle like any other boring, normal human being) for love is admirable. Instead, she decided to start living the life she imagined, and own that decision by adapting to her new home, friends and family.

Please tell me you agree now that she's not a mere deuteragonist, she's a heroine!
